Endless eight is the first of several short stories in the fifth book in the series ‘The Rampage of Haruhi Suzumiya’. In the book it is roughly the same length as other short stories in the series, but rather than only being one episode like most others, endless eight spans eight episodes.
Endless eight covers august 17 through august 31. In the first episode we see the brigade meet up every day to do one of Haruhis activities until the last day, the day before school is back, where they don’t meet up, and Kyon fails to complete his homework.

On august 30th the brigade meet up but have nothing to do, haruhi gets upset and goes home. On august 31st they don’t meet up, Kyon realises he can’t finnish his homework so goes to bed and wakes up on august 17th.
The 2nd-7th episodes are in a timeloop created by Haruhi because she doesn’t want summer to end. The only one who remembers the loops is Nagato. The loops are almost the same, with slight differences in the activities and the added scene they find out they are in a loop.
The eights episode features the 15,532nd loop of which Nagato remembers them all. Kyon realises that Haruhi still wants to do something else causing the loop. Thinking back remembering she had completed her homework, he decides to make a study group with the brigade to finish the homework he couldn’t in the other loops. Although she barely participates this satisfies Haruhi, and the loop finally ends.
