The sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya is the second book in the series but takes place chronologically after all of the short stories from boredom and endless eight.
Sigh takes place before the school festival and for it Haruhi decides to make a movie ater seeing one on tv so bad she thought she could make a better one.
When Haruhi tells the brigade their roles we see she has Asahina as a battle waitress from the future, Nagato as an evil alien witch and Koizumi as a highschool esper. Kyon is the cameraman as well as all other miscellaneous roles.
Kyon thinks Haruhi has figured out who everyone is, but they are not worried as they believe if it was true there’d be a lot more trouble. Haruhi acquires a camera and fake guns as props by promising to advertisements for the stores.
While making the movie, Haruhi accidently brings back an extinct pigeon to have white birds, makes Asahina shoot lasers which Nagato has to fix and makes a stray cat whose adopted by kyon able to talk to be Nagatos sidekick for parts of the movie.
Haruhi has no script and plans to have Kyon fix it in editing. After causing lots of trouble for Asahina, Kyon gets angry at Haruhi and she makes a closed space. Koizumi convinces Kyon to make her feel better by finishing the movie.
They are able to finish filming the rest of the scenes for the movie and Kyon and haruhi Stay the night at the school to finish editing although Haruhi does nothing.
Kyon wakes up realising he fell asleep without completing the movie but sees that it has been edited. He wonders whether it was one of the brigade members who finished it. Haruhi is happy with the final product.
